Robert Blandford, head of the Visual Arts Management concentration, facilitated a New Professionals and Mid-Career Mentoring Roundtable at the American Association of Museums’ Annual Meeting in May. The topic of the Roundtable was Museum Studies Programs: How Well Do They Prepare You for the Real Work World?

The Sports Management concentration has grown 25% compared to last year, with 35 students enrolled for Fall 2007.

The AEMM Department announces the recipients of the 2007/08 Chuck Suber Scholarship: Undergraduates Emily Rehm, Kate Begani, and Julie Batkiewicz, and Graduates Janna Jackson and Rebecca Thomason. Congratulations to all!

The very prestigious Journal of Cultural Economics will publish Philippe Ravanas’s review of F. Martel’s book De la Culture en Amérique this Fall. The editor of the Journal has asked Ravanas to become a referee for the Journal.

The International Journal of Arts Management, which is distributed in more than 50 countries, has recently published an article written by Philippe Ravanas. The article, A quiet revolution: The Metropolitan Opera reinvents client relationship management, is the cover story for the Journal. The publisher has asked Ravanas to join the reading committee for the Journal.

Next on MusiciansStudio: On Monday, October 29, 2007, at 6:30 pm, MusiciansStudio will feature John Langford, the L’homme de Renaissance of indie rock.

The AEMMDept, under the guidance of Paulette Whitfield, has been involved in a partnership with Chicago Children’s Theatre, conducting a survey, which will ultimately help CCT build its membership base. The survey is being conducted in six phases over a period of two years. The grant-funded project is looking at the CCT’s current membership program, gauging awareness of their organization, and determining people’s likelihood of attending theatre and/or purchasing memberships.
