These graduate and undergraduate Scholarships
of Columbia College Chicago are named in recognition of
Chuck Subers visionary leadership in the field of
arts management and his continuing contributions to the
AEMM Department.
Chuck Suber is currently an Artist-in-residence, and has
been a member of the AEMM Department of Columbia College
Chicago since 1978. During that time, he established the
Music program and helped develop the Arts, Entertainment
& Media Management Graduate Program. Before joining
Columbia, he was publisher of DOWN BEAT magazine for 21
years. Mr. Suber is also the compiler and editor of the
Dictionary for Artists and Performers and Managers, a required
reference work for the Management Department. In addition,
he serves as editor of the Columbia College Chicago/Arts,
Entertainment & Media Management Publications (CCC/AEMMP),
a new service of the College.
Mr. Suber continues to commute to Chicago from his home
in New Orleans on a regular basis to teach classes at Columbia.
THE CHUCK SUBER SCHOLARSHIPS
CRITERIA
FOR SPRING 2006 TERM
I. At the time of the award a recipient must be a full time
Columbia College Chicago (CCC) student enrolled as an undergraduate
major in the AEMM Department or as a new continuing graduate
student in the Arts, Entertainment & Media Management
Graduate Program.
II. The scholarship is based on merit:
III. Undergraduate Eligibility
A. A Student must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate
in the Management Department.
B. The student must have earned 60 credits (junior year
status). At least 45 of these credit hours must have been
earned at CCC.
C. Eligible Students must have earned a minimum of a 3.0
GPA at CCC.
D. As judged by the selection committee, the student must
have demonstrated a commitment to his or her chosen concentration.
IV. Graduate Eligibility
A. A Student must be enrolled full time (minimum of
9 credit hours) in the AEMM Graduate Program in the Management
Department.
B. Continuing students of the graduate program must have
a GPA of 3.0 or better.
C. As judged by the selection committee, the student must
have demonstrated a commitment to his or her chosen concentration.
Application Procedure (due April 28 , 2006)
A. Application
form must be completed.
B. Resume must be submitted with the application.
C. A three to four page essay (typewritten and
double-spaced) must accompany the student's
application and include:

a commitment to his/her chosen concentration |
D. Each applicant must submit a minimum of two
letters of recommendation with the application
resume and essay. Continuing graduate students
must have at least one of the letters written by an
AEMM Department faculty member.
E. A transcript from CCC must be attached. Transfer
students must also attach transcripts from previous
institutions.
AWARD PROCEDURE
A. The selection committee will choose the recipi-
ents of the scholarships by the end of Columbia
College Chicago's Spring 2006 semester. The
selection committee reserves the option of
interviewing individual applicants.
B. The number and amount of the scholarships
awarded is at the discretion of the selection com-
mittee. The fellowships are awarded on an annual
basis, and will be payable as a tuition credit in two
equal increments at the beginning of the fall and
spring semesters.
C. If a recipient's grade point average drops below
3.0 between the date the scholarship awards are
announced and the beginning of the fail semester
the scholarships may be terminated. Or, if a
recipient's grade point average falls below 3.0 or the
recipient leaves Columbia College Chicago for any
reason during the fall semester, the scholarship for
the spring semester may be terminated.
D. A scholarship recipient may re-apply for contin-
ued funding. The scholarships are renewable at the
discretion of the selection committee.
